A night in the bed of Patrick Brontë

The English comedian Arthur Smith for the BBC's The One Show spent a night in the bedroom of Patrick Brontë. He brought the visit to the Parsonage in Haworth as part of a series of items about the homes of literary greats. It reports the Telegraph & Argus.

The comedian's hoping for a ghostly visitation never materialised - His sleep disturbed only by the chiming of the clock on the landing - The Same One wound everynight by Mr. Bronte, Bronte Parsonage Museum collections manager said, Ann Dinsdale.

Mary Taylor - an independent woman

The Red House in Gomersal until April 18 an exhibition about Mary Taylor, friend of Charlotte Brontë, see. Reported that the Bronte Parsonage Blog . Mary Taylor, Charlotte's school friend and later a great inspiration. Charlotte Brontë visited and stayed regularly at the Red House, the residence of the Taylor family. She used the family later as inspiration for her book Shirley.
Mary Taylor for her time, very independent and progressive. She emigrated to New Zealand and started a business there. She also wrote articles for magazines and a novel, Miss Miles: A Tale of Yorkshire Life Sixty Years Ago.

Feb. 12: Jane Eyre on RTL8

RTL8 transmits on Friday, February 12 the film Jane Eyre in 1996. In this film Anna Paquin plays the young Jane and Charlotte Gainsbourg plays the adult Jane Eyre. Mr. Rochester is played by William Hurt. The show starts at 20:30.

Jane Eyre is an orphan and lives with her aunt who mistreats her. When she is old enough, Jane is sent to a girls' school. She is a good education and teacher. With all her knowledge she goes in search of a better life and will work with Mrs. Fairfax. There she falls in love with Mr. Rochester. The feelings are mutual but a dark secret seems to ruin everything.
